Place parsnip, swede and 1 OXO cube into a pan with boiling water. Stir oxo cube in and season with salt to taste. Put on to boil.
Place potatoes, carrot and onion into a stew pot. Season with a pinch of salt and add other OXO cube as a stock. Bring to boil will the at same time as pan.
When contents of first pan are soft, remove from stove and mash the contents into a paste. Add contents to stew pot with the other ingredients.
Add your 1 or 2 (only add second if serving more than 4) tins of stewed beef steak with a cupful of water. Stir together and allow to come back to a rolling boil, stirring very regularly.
Serve straight away, with bread and butter for dipping in the juices (if you wish) and enjoy!!!
Make ahead
This is great for making in the morning so it just needs a quick heat up for when the kids come in complaining about empty tummies, and can last for a couple of days resting in the pot.
