Lebanese Kafta

    The yummiest preparation for minced beef EVER! I have made this Lebanese beef kebab for friends and family and everyone asks for the recipe!

    Serves: 6 

    • 675g lean minced beef
    • 1 medium onion, grated
    • 30g finely chopped fresh parsley
    • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
    • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    • 6 wooden or metal skewers

    1. Preheat an outdoor barbecue for high heat. If using wooden skewers, soak in water.
    2. In a large bowl, mix together the minced beef, onion, parsley, cayenne, allspice, salt and pepper until evenly blended. Divide into 6 portions, and press around one end of the skewers to form a log shape approximately 2.5cm thick and 15cm long.
    3. Barbecue for 10 to 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until meat is no longer pink.

    Cook's note

    This mixture can be used to make meatballs, meatloaf, burgers or patties. For the most authentic Lebanese taste, don't omit or substitute anything!

    This is my "secret recipe" for perfectly seasoned, perfectly juicy hamburgers. Everyone that tries them asks what's in them, but I never tell!
