Roasted chicken wings with a sticky, sweet coating. Serve with rice and broccoli as a main, or on its own as a starter or party nibble.

Serves: 6
  • 1.5kg (3 lb) chicken wings
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 7 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 225ml (8 fl oz) honey
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Preparation method

Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 1 hour
1.
Preheat oven to 190 C / Gas mark 5.
2.
Place chicken in one layer in a baking dish. Mix together the oil, soy sauce, ketchup, honey, garlic, salt and pepper. Pour over the chicken.
3.
Bake in preheated oven for one hour, or until sauce is caramelised.

This was extremely easy to prepare and it uses all basic ingredients. As other people have mentioned, I too used Chicken breast as opposed to wings/thighs. I personally found the Soy Sauce slightly over-powering, and will try the lighter version next time. I also added a little Lemon juice to cut through the Honey. Will definitely be making this recipe again, and vary the cooking method such as BBQ-ing.

Something else. I let the chicken wings 'marinate' in the sauce for about 10 hours to enhance the flavour!

I made these as part of the meal that i cooked for my hubby and our friends last night and they were deliciousBut next time i think i'll use chicken 'drumsticks' as they're wasn't enough meat on the wings

Something else. I followed some previous suggestions when using this recipe with boneless, skinless chicken breasts. I cooked the sauce on the hob for about 15 minutes then put it on top of the chicken. 20 minutes at 200 and it turned out delicious.
