    About this recipe: This is one of my favourite side dishes that my mother-in-law makes.

    Serves: 4 

    • 50g butter
    • 2 onions, chopped
    • 1 stick celery, chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
    • 1 medium head cabbage, quartered
    • 1 (400g) tin chopped tomatoes, with liquid
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    1. Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion, celery and garlic and cook gently for 3 to 5 minutes, or until translucent. Add cabbage, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes.
    2. Pour in tomatoes and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover pan and cook over medium heat for 30 - 40 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
