Danish meatballs

    A wonderful, easy, cheap everyday meal. Easily heated up in oven or microwave. Serve with boiled white potatoes and vegetables; very good with boiled spinach. Excellent lunch cut in slices on good rye bread, topped with a sliced pickle. Truly very Danish. Enjoy!

    Serves: 4 

    • 450g lean minced pork
    • 1 egg
    • 1 onion, finely chopped
    • 60ml milk
    • 2 teaspoons salt
    • 1 teaspoon pepper
    • 2 tablespoons plain flour
    • butter or oil for frying

    1. Mix minced pork with egg, onion, milk, salt and pepper. Add flour to stiffen so that the meatballs are easily formed by a spoon into oblongs balls.
    2. Do not overmix. Let rest for 1 to 6 hours, covered. Form the oblong balls by picking up mixture with a tablespoon. Place immediately on greased frying pan over medium high heat, turn from time to time, do not over-brown.
    3. Cooked when slightly hard to a tap with a spoon. Remove from frying pan, let grease drip of on kitchen paper, place in a bowl and keep warm by covering bowl.

    made these for tea really nice served with potaoes brocoli gravy and cranberry sauce .....tip make sure your hands have plenty of flour on cos they are abit sticky  -  10 Feb 2012
