Indian Mustard Salmon

    Inspiration for this recipe is from the sister site - Thank you BRIDLE. I tried this last night with a few recommended tweaks from reviewers and an added ingredient and it was delicious.

    Serves: 6 

    • 3 tablespoons mustard seed
    • 5 green chillies
    • 2 tablespoon butter
    • 2 teaspoons tumeric
    • 2 teaspoons cumin
    • 4 medium onions
    • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
    • 75ml (3 fl oz) water
    • 900g (2 lb) salmon, cut into chunks
    • 1 or 2 (if you like a strong garlic taste) garlic

    1. Place the mustard seed and chillies in a bowl, and mash together to create a fine paste.
    2. Heat the butter in a frying pan over medium heat, and cook the onions until golden. Mix in mustard and chilli paste, chilli powder, turmeric, cumin and salt. Stir in water. Place salmon in the pan. Reduce heat to low, and cook until most of the liquid has evaporated and fish is easily flaked with a fork.

    Easy to make and delicious. It went perfectly with some green, leafy salad. What more could you want on a balmy summers evening?  -  23 Jun 2010
