We live in southern Spain and went to the cherry festival at Alfarnate. We came away with 3kgs of plump juicy cherries. I didn't want to make jam as we eat more savoury foods. I tripled the recipe, used wine vinegar and added tspn of dried ginger and same amount of cumin. Having searched several recipes for a chutney and, as some had sultanas added, I added a good handful of dried sultanas.
Lovely result, will definitely make this again.

A great and really easy recipe. I also increased the quantities and made this with a glut of strawberries using raspberry vinegar, lemon peel and juice (1 large lemon) and pink and black peppercorns. Make sure the vinegar is 6% or more acidity for good keeping. - 19 Aug 2012
