About this recipe: Fresh king prawns are steamed in a soy sauce, garlic and brandy. Simple and delicious.


Serves: 4 

  • 20 raw king prawns with shell
  • 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon brandy

  1. Wash prawns thoroughly and leave on shells and heads. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, garlic and brandy. Arrange the prawns on a dish, and cover with the soy sauce mixture.
  2. Fill a pot or wok about half full with water. Place a steamer basket over the water, and bring water to a boil. Place the dish with the prawns onto the steamer basket. Cover wok, and steam prawns for 10 minutes, until opaque. Serve hot.

I am chinese, so i know that this really taste like how we Chinese will cook steamed prawns. Use XO for great taste. take care not to over cook it - 15 Sep 2008
