The variations possible with this basic cookie recipe are limited only by your imagination. I have included some variation suggestions for this recipe - including freezing instructions in the footnotes. These are fab to make with kids - each person can add their own ingredients and say 'Look, I made it!'.
You can make a variety of additions to your cookies: Chocolate chips; cocoa and chopped nuts; desiccated coconut; cinnamon; dried fruit. The possibilities are endless - feel free to experiment!
After adding the different ingredients, I often freeze some of the dough in a long roll with greaseproof paper around it, until I want to bake them. The dough is fine in the freezer for about a month. When I feel like cookies I just take the dough out of the freezer, leave it on the counter for 10 to 15 minutes, slice into cookie size pieces and bake!
