A yummy traybake for those who love pecan pie, with the added bonus of chocolate and the convenience of portable squares. Great for cake sales or when you've got to bring a plate to parties and other occasions.

185g plain flour
4 tablespoons caster sugar
125g butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
260g golden syrup
200g caster sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
110g pecan nuts, chopped
175g chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease the sides and bottom of a 18x28cm tin.
In a large bowl combine the flour, 4 tablespoons sugar, butter and salt and rub together until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press firmly into the prepared tin.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove from oven but leave oven on.
In a large bowl stir the eggs, the syrup, 200g sugar, melted butter and vanilla until blended. Stir in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
Spread the filling evenly over the hot base. Bake in the 180 C / Gas 4 oven for 25 minutes or until set. Let cool before slicing.
