Chocolate Chip and Walnut Cookies

    These cookies are simple to make and taste delicious. Make them plain or coat them with a variety of toppings. Enjoy with a cup of tea.

    Serves: 20 

    • 150g butter, softened
    • 110g dark brown soft sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 190g self-raising flour
    • 85g chocolate chips
    • 75g walnuts (optional)
    • desiccated coconut, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds or other topping

    1. Preheat oven 180 C / Gas 4. Grease or line a baking tray.
    2. Beat butter and sugar until pale and creamy.
    3. Beat in egg, then mix in flour to make a soft dough. Add chocolate chips and nuts.
    4. Take a heaped teaspoon of mixture and roll into a ball.
    5. Now you can roll them in any of the coatings you wish.
    6. Place on tray 3cm apart, flatten with fork.
    7. Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on rack.
