Ham and Cheese Slice

    These savoury pastries are quick and easy to make. Ready-made puff pastry is filled with ham, Gruyere cheese and baked to perfection. Enjoy as a snack or for lunch or dinner.

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed if frozen
    • 8 slices ham
    • 8 slices Gruyere cheese
    • French mustard as needed
    • 1 egg, beaten

    1. Preheat oven to 220 C / Gas 7. Line a baking tray with baking parchment.
    2. Cut each sheet of puff pastry in half.
    3. Spread each half of the pastry with French mustard, leaving the edges clear.
    4. On one half of each pastry, layer ham, Gruyere, ham, Gruyere, leaving edges free. If necessary cut cheese and ham to fit on the pastry.
    5. Brush the pastry edges with egg and fold over the pastry to form four square parcels. Lightly brush the tops of the parcels with more egg.
    6. Place parcels onto baking tray and bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden and puffy.
