No-Bake Fudgy Cake Squares

About this recipe: This is a super-easy treat that's quick and easy to make. They squares are rich, sweet, chocolately and very fudgy. Enjoy anytime of the day.


Serves: 12 

  • 250g plain biscuits, roughly crushed
  • 100g butter
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 heaped tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 30g walnuts, chopped (optional)
  • For the Icing
  • icing sugar, as needed
  • unsweetened cocoa powder, as needed
  • 15g butter, melted
  • water, if needed

Prep:20min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:25min 

  1. Melt butter, sugar, cocoa and vanilla in a saucepan. Add biscuits, walnuts and egg. Mix well over low heat, then set aside.
  2. Grease a baking tray with butter. Tip the mixture into the tin and press firmly down with the back of a spoon.
  3. To make the icing, stir together butter and enough icing sugar and cocoa to make a drizzly icing. If required, add a little water to get the consistency right.
  4. Drizzle the cake with chocolate icing whilst still warm. Cut into small squares before serving.
