Chicken with Honey and Mustard Sauce

    A simple, yet delicious slow cooker meal, which is quick and easy to prepare. Chicken is cooked with bacon, rice, potatoes, carrots and corn in a honey and mustard sauce.

    Serves: 6 

    • 1 (2-3kg) whole chicken
    • 3 rashers streaky bacon
    • carrots, chopped, to taste
    • potatoes, chopped, to taste
    • corn on the cob, chopped into 5cm chunks, to taste
    • 3 tablespoons long grain rice
    • 1 (525g) jar honey and mustard sauce, such as Chicken Tonight
    • 1 pinch allspice

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:8hr  ›  Ready in:8hr10min 

    1. Scatter rice in pan of slow cooker. Place chicken on top.
    2. Place bacon on chicken.
    3. Pour honey and mustard sauce all over, then sprinkle with all spice.
    4. Place vegetables on top, then cover.
    5. Cook on LOW for 8 hours.

    This was a yummy & easy dish, only downside was didn't know what size to cut potatoes & carrots - potatoes didn't cook had quartered them. The vote at the dinner table was leave potatoes out & maybe put an extra spoon of rice.  -  23 May 2010  (Review from Allrecipes AU | NZ)
