About this recipe: This wonderful sauce is quick and easy to make. Serve alongside roast beef, pan-fried steak or dolloped in a burger bun. Simple and delicious.


Serves: 6 

  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 4 tablespoons malt vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 tablespoon plain flour
  • 250ml water
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Beat egg and sugar together.
  2. Stir in the vinegar and water. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Stir in a pan over low heat until it thickens. Do not overcook.
