Honey Oat Porridge

    A simple breakfast, which is cooked in a rice cooker instead of on the hob. Feel free to add other extras, such as dried fruit or nuts.

    Serves: 2 

    • 90g quick oats
    • 250ml water
    • 250ml milk
    • 1 pinch salt
    • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
    • 2 tablespoons honey
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:20min 

    1. Place all of the ingredients in a rice cooker and stir.
    2. Turn the rice cooker on and cook for around 10-15 minutes.

    I love oatmeal, so, I thought I would give this method a try. I did use a little less water and milk than listed because I thought it would be thin. I would not try this method in future because it only takes about 5 minutes on the stovetop instead of the 15 minutes it took me in the rice cooker.  -  27 May 2013  (Review from Allrecipes AU | NZ)
