Classic Cheese on Toast

    The perfect flavour combination of cheese, brown ale and Worcestershire sauce is brought together in this recipe. Cheese on toast is the perfect student food that can be enjoyed anytime of the day.

    Serves: 4 

    • 225g Cheddar cheese, grated
    • 25g butter or margarine
    • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 4 tablespons brown ale or water
    • 4 slices bread
    • parley for garnish (optional)

    1. Place the Cheddar, butter, mustard powder, salt, pepper and brown ale into a heavy-based saucepan. Heat very gently until a creamy mixture is obtained.
    2. Preheat the grill and lightly toast the bread on one side only.
    3. Pour the sauce over the untoasted sides and grill on a tray until golden and bubbly. Garnish with parsley.
