About this recipe:This potato dish is a little like a potato gratin, but so much easier to make. Thinly sliced potatoes are layered with seasoned soured cream, topped with Cheddar cheese and baked to perfection.
Makes: 4 - 6
6 medium potatoes, scrubbed and thinly sliced (skin left on)
250-300ml soured cream
1 (40g) packet French onion soup mix
125g grated matured Cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6. Generously grease a baking dish.
Mix together the soured cream and French onion soup mix in a bowl until well combined.
Layer potatoes and soured cream mixture in prepared dish, starting with potatoes on the bottom. Continue until everything has been used up. Top with cheese.
Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour or until potatoes are soft and tender.
1. Add 100g chopped spring onions to the soured cream.
2. Add bacon bits or ham in between the layers.
3. Add vegetables in between the layers, such as onion, sweet potato or pumpkin.
