About this recipe: The wonderful combination of cheese and beer come together in this delicious soup. It's creamy, rich and truly delectable. Serve with fresh, crusty bread rolls.

Serves: 12 

  • 2 litres milk
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons chicken stock granules
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cornflour
  • 125ml water
  • 350ml dark beer
  • 1 1/3 (350g) tubs cheese sauce

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, combine the milk, stock granules, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce and salt. Bring close to the boil.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve the cornflour in the water and add to the soup, stirring well. Add the beer and the cheese sauce, reduce heat to low and mix well. Allow to heat through before serving.

This soup is a feast, trully delicious and you can go on that for the rest of day. It is also very simple to make and it took me only approx. 20 minutes to make it ready. The consistence is extremely smooth and creamy, I used spreadable cheese from Aldi instead of cheese sauce, which made it thicker than I expected ( you can always add a little bit more beer or milk if too thick), served with garlic toasts-yummy!!! - 28 Mar 2016
