Affogato with a Kick

    15 min

Affogato is an Italian dessert/drink made with coffee and ice cream. This version has an added ingredient - Irish cream liqueur. It makes the most wonderful drink.

Be the first to make this!

    Serves: 6

    • 3 litres freshly brewed coffee, hot
    • 500ml vanilla ice cream
    • 350ml Irish cream liqueur

    Prep:15min  ›  Ready in:15min

    1. Fill six large mugs with a scoop of ice cream. Top each scoop of ice cream with just enough Irish cream so that the ice cream looks lightly coated.
    2. Pour enough coffee into each mug, so that it's filled up about halfway. It is then up to each individual to add more Irish cream, single cream or sugar to suit their tastes.

This. Is. AWESOME. My husband and I absolutely adored this drink. I used my own homemade irish cream liqueur and I think that really took it over the top. Incredible nightcap drink. Very decadent. NOTE: Math is not my strong suit but if you cut this in half and use one medium sized scoop of ice cream instead of one full pint of ice cream, you'll get two perfect servings. I don't know if something got lost in translation when the recipe was added to this site, but the way I did it worked for us.  -  06 Feb 2012  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

Ok, there is only one thing to say for this....WOW! I can not wait until I make this again. Cozy by the fire watching falling leaves...great drink.  -  02 Oct 2003  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

MMMMMMMMMMM....this simple extra at our party was the reason for lots of hugs and kisses from my sweet toothed, coffee loving male friends. Must make this much more often Kim....  -  20 Jan 2003  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
