    About this recipe: A truly hearty cabbage soup. Cabbage, celery, carrots, onion, ham and barley are simmered together in a chicken stock. Serve with crusty bread. Perfect for those cold winter nights.

    Serves: 6 

    • 825ml chicken stock
    • 4 sticks celery, chopped
    • 6 carrots, chopped
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • 1 medium head cabbage, finely sliced
    • 100g pearl barley
    • 225g ham, diced
    • 1 tablespoon dried parsley

    1. Place the chicken stock, celery, carrots, onion, garlic, cabbage, barley, ham and parsley in a large pot over high heat. Bring to the boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
