Beer bread is a quick bread - perfect for serving with a rich beefy stew. Feel free to experiment - the taste will vary depending on what type of beer you use.
Something else. I'm a caterer and I've added this bread recipe to my repertoire because of its quick and easy preparation, and because my clients love it. One thing I do is divide the batter between two small loaf tins, and then let it sit about a half-hour. It rises to about double its bulk, forms a crown, and produces a lighter, product -- gorgeous! Absolutely perfect. - 14 Jul 2008
Used different ingredients. I love beer bread. It is super fast and couldn't be easier to make. I don't usually have self raising flour to hand so make my own. I have used all types of beer, everything from lager to cider. Cider is my favorite, it gives your bread a sweeter fruity taste. The only type I won't use again is Corona (no flavour). I recently added cheese and chillies to my bread and it was wonderful. - 14 Jul 2008
Used different ingredients. I used SIFTED plain flour, 2 dsp baking powder & 1 tsp salt rather than the self-raising flour. Absolutely excellent! No yeast, no bother, easy, great for savoury or sweet. This recipe will be a staple at our house. - 14 Jul 2008
