Easy Beer Bread

    Beer bread is a quick bread - perfect for serving with a rich beefy stew. Feel free to experiment - the taste will vary depending on what type of beer you use.

    Serves: 12 

    • 375g (13 oz) self raising flour
    • 3 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 330ml (12 fl oz) beer

    1. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar and flour. Add beer and continue to mix, first using a wooden spoon, then your hands. Batter will be sticky. Pour into a 23x12cm (9x5 in) greased loaf tin.
    2. Bake at 180 C / Gas mark 4 for 50 for 60 minutes. The top will be crunchy, and the insides will be soft.
