About this recipe: A highly refreshing drink with all the trimmings. Bloody mary mix is blended with horseradish, dill, hot pepper sauce and dill pickle juice, then served in a salt rimmed glass and garnished with a pickled cucumber spear. The perfect summer drink, to be enjoyed all year round.


Serves: 6 

  • 750ml bottled Bloody Mary mix
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dill pickle juice
  • 115g sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 250ml vodka
  • 6 dill pickled cucumber spears
  • 1 fresh lime, cut into wedges

  1. In a large table jug, stir together the Bloody Mary mix, horseradish, dill, hot pepper sauce and dill pickle juice. Taste and adjust seasoning if desired.
  2. In a shallow dish, stir together the sea salt, pepper and celery seeds. Pour the lime juice onto a saucer. Dip each glass into the lime juice to coat the rim, then into the spice mixture.
  3. Fill each glass with ice. Pour 2 3/4 tablespoons vodka into each glass. Fill with the Bloody Mary mixture. Garnish each glass with a wedge of lime and a dill pickle cucumber spear.
