About this recipe: This is a wholesome, quick and simple recipe that's great for kids.

Ingredients
Serves: 8 

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 450g (1 lb) passata
  • 450ml (16 fl oz) water
  • 2 (200g) tins petits pois, with liquid
  • 1 (500g) pack macaroni
  • 50g (2 oz) grated Cheddar cheese

Method
Prep:20min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:50min 

  1. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat; sauté onion for about 5 minutes. Add salt, pepper, passata and water; bring mixture to a boil and add peas; reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes.
  2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  3. Stir cooked pasta and cheese into tomato mixture. Cover pan and turn off heat; let stand for 10 minutes.

Tip:

Use a tomato pasta sauce instead of the passata if you prefer.
