Boil in the Bag Omelette

    This omelette is quick and easy to make. Eggs are squished in a resealable bag with cheese, ham, pepper, onion, tomato, salsa and mushrooms, then boiled in the bag. Serve for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.

    Serves: 1 

    • 2 eggs
    • 2 slices ham, chopped
    • 60g grated Cheddar cheese
    • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
    • 1 tablespoon chopped green pepper
    • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh tomato
    • 1 tablespoon chunky salsa
    • 2 fresh mushrooms, sliced

    1. Crack the eggs into a large resealable freezer bag. Press out most of the air and seal. Shake or squeeze to beat the eggs. Open the bag and add the ham, cheese, onion, green pepper, tomato, salsa and mushrooms. Squeeze out as much of the air as you can and seal the bag.
    2. Bring a large pot of water to the boil. Place up to 8 bags at a time into the boiling water. Cook for exactly 13 minutes. Open the bag and transfer the omelette roll onto a plate.

    I make this for breakfast every day, but I find the eggs are still runny and not cooked properly if I cook it for less than 20 minutes. Am I doing something wrong?  -  21 Sep 2016


    omg i am going to have to try this, sounds awesome and so quick update.... this is so yummy and sooooo healthy, i only had cheese, onions and mushrooms, and eggs . This will now be the way i cook my omelettes from now on, no matter what i put in it. smiling big time here.  -  07 Feb 2015


    Absolutely lovely! tried this last night I added courgettes and mushrooms instead of green pepper and onion but its omelette pretty much anything goes. I much prefer this way of doing omelette to fried.  -  09 Oct 2013
