About this recipe: This is a delicious pork dish, made by pan-searing pork chops and serving them with a homemade pear sauce. It's excellent with mashed potatoes or rice.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 6

    • 3 pears, peeled, cored and chopped
    • 3 tablespoons dark brown soft sugar
    • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
    • 175ml pear juice
    • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon or to taste
    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    • 6 thin cut boneless pork chops

    Method

    1. In a medium saucepan, mix the pears, dark brown soft sugar, lemon juice, pear juice and cinnamon. Bring to the boil. Cook 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
    2. Transfer the sauce mixture to a liquidiser and blend until smooth. Return to saucepan, cover and simmer 15 minutes over low heat. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
    3. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat and cook the pork chops 8 minutes, turning once, until done. Drizzle with the pear sauce to serve.

This was great! I used 2 cans of pears and just used the juice from the cans rather than buying pear juice. Also, 1 Tbsp. of cinnamon was plenty. I think it would be way overpowering with 2 Tbsp. I also seasoned the pork chops with salt and pepper. Delicious!  -  03 Oct 2006  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

It was pretty good, but only because I added lots more sugar. The 2 tablespoons of cinnamon should probably be 2 teaspoons.  -  01 Sep 2004  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

Tried this recipe because I wanted something different. Excellent, we LOVED it, and it's sooo easy. (If you cook down the pear sauce, it makes a great Pear Butter, spread it on toast).  -  25 Jun 2004  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
