225g skinless, boneless chicken breast fillets, cut into 2.5cm cubes
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
120g thinly sliced carrots
155g thinly sliced potatoes
1 1/2 (40g) packets French onion soup mix, such as Knorr's
2 tablespoons caster sugar
1/4 teaspoon Italian herb seasoning
1 dash hot pepper sauce
55g pasta shells
ground black pepper to taste

In a large stock pot, heat oil over medium heat; add chicken and brown lightly.
Stir in carrots, potatoes, French onion soup mix, sugar, water, tomatoes, Italian herb seasoning, hot pepper sauce and pepper. Stir frequently.
Bring to the boil, add pasta and reduce heat. Simmer gently for 30 to 40 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
