About this recipe: Kiwi fruit, peaches and cucumber calm the heat of chillies and onion in this sweet-hot salsa. Works well with barbecued chicken or fish.

Serves: 4 

  • 2 kiwi fruit, peeled and diced
  • 1 large peach, peeled and diced
  • 1 jalapeño chilli, seeded and chopped
  • 50g (2 oz) cucumber - peeled, seeded and chopped
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

  1. In a large non-porous glass bowl combine all ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Cover bowl and refrigerate overnight.


If you can't find fresh jalapeño chillies, use jarred jalapeños, or a fresh green chilli.
