Chinese Cabbage and Pork Stir Fry

About this recipe: A hearty and delicious pork stir fry dish. Pork and cabbage is pan-fried and then simmered until done. It's a perfect side dish when served with freshly cooked rice.

Serves: 2 

  • Marinade
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon light soy sauce or 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1-2 tablespoons cornflour, mixed with 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 225g pork, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 head cabbage, finely sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6-8 dried shrimp, soaked
  • 250ml hot water

Prep:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:15min marinating  ›  Ready in:35min 

  1. Make the marinade by mixing together the sugar, salt, soy sauce and cornflour slurry. Mix in the pork, let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a large frying pan with 1 tablespoon oil over high heat. Stir-fry the pork until done, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Heat the same frying pan with 1 tablespoon over high heat. Stir-fry the cabbage and salt until soft, 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the pork and shrimp to the pan. Add hot water, cover and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Adjust the seasoning accordingly.


Dried shrimp can be purchased in Chinese/Oriental specialty stores.
