Beef Fillet with Garlic Butter

    A simple, yet delicious steak dish. Fillet steak is pan-fried and served with a garlic butter. Serve with rice, potatoes or pasta for lunch or dinner.

    Serves: 4 

    • 450g beef fillet steak, about 1-2cm thick, cut into chunks
    • 3 tablespoon caster sugar
    • 2-3 tablespoons Japanese soy sauce (tamari)
    • 1 teaspoon oil
    • 1-2 teaspoons cornflour
    • 50g butter
    • 4 cloves garlic, finely sliced
    • salt, to taste

    1. Sprinkle the steak with sugar, toss to coat and let sit for 20 minutes.
    2. Add Japanese soy sauce, oil and cornflour to the steak and stir to mix.
    3. In a large frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon oil over high heat. Stir-fry until medium, about 3-5 minutes. The cooking time will be dependent on the thickness of the steak and how you prefer your steak. Set aside.
    4. Heat the same frying pan with butter and saute the garlic until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Add the steak and salt to taste, stir well and serve.
