Beef and Green Pepper Stir Fry

About this recipe: This is a simple, yet delicious stir fry dish. Steak is stir-fried with onions and green peppers and tossed in a Chinese barbecue sauce. Serve with freshly cooked rice.

Serves: 4 

  • 450g beef steak, chopped into 1.5cm cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cornflour
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1 small shallot, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 medium green pepper, diced
  • 2 tablespoons Chinese barbecue sauce
  • 1 dessertspoon oyster sauce

Prep:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:15min marinating  ›  Ready in:35min 

  1. Sprinkle the steak with white pepper and sugar, toss to coat, let sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Sprinkle the salt, cornflour and soy sauce into the steak. Stir to mix.
  3. Heat a large frying pan with 1 tablespoon oil over high heat. Stir-fry the garlic and shallots until fragrant, 2-3 minutes. Add the steak and stir-fry until evenly browned, about 3-4 minutes. Add the soy sauce, stir and set aside.
  4. Heat the same frying pan with 1 tablespoon oil over high heat. Stir-fry the onion and salt until soft, 3-4 minutes. Add the green pepper and stir-fry for 1 minute. Stir in the barbecue sauce, oyster sauce and steak. Serve.

Absolutely love this have made it a few times sometimes adding different ingredients and have used fillet beef also rump excellent would definitely recommend very easy to make - 05 Dec 2015
