    About this recipe: What a refreshing, fiery twist on lemonade. Freeze some of this into ice cubes to use in the drinks, so it won't be diluted!

    Serves: 20 

    • 600g (1 1/3 lb) caster sugar
    • 3.5L (6 3/8 pints) water
    • 14 slices fresh root ginger
    • 1L (1 3/4 pints) fresh lemon juice
    • 2 lemons, sliced

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:10min 

    1. In a large saucepan combine sugar, water and ginger. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
    2. Stir in lemon juice. Cool for 15 minutes. Remove ginger. Refrigerate lemonade at least 1 hour, or until chilled.
    3. Serve over ice, if desired, and garnish with lemon slices.

    This was a very refreshing beverage. I love the ginger! The recipe is a little sweet, so if you like your lemonade more tart (like me), scale back the sugar some.  -  15 Sep 2008

    This is the best lemonade I've ever tasted! My whole family loves it. I've shared some with my friends and they ask for more! The ginger smooths the edges of the tart lemon juice and adds a wonderful dimension to an old favourite. Thanks!  -  15 Sep 2008
