I've got this recipe from a Lebanese friend. Traditionally, the flaky pastry pieces are filled with almonds, but they taste better to me with walnuts. You can use either depending on your tastes!

1 (500g) pack puff pastry
flour for the work surface
For the walnut filling
350g walnuts, finely chopped
zest of 1 orange
4 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
40g butter, melted

Break the puff pastry into four pieces. Flour the work surface and rolling pin and roll out the first piece of pastry as thinly as possible. Turn over and cut out circles 10cm in diameter. Lay the pastry circles on top of each other and wrap in cling film. Do the same with the rest of the pastry.
Mix walnuts, sugar, orange zest and orange juice to a paste. Place a spoonful of the filling into the middle of each stack of pastry circles and fold the circle into a crescent. Seal the edges with your fingers.
Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6. Line a baking tray with baking parchment and place the pastries on it. Brush the tops with the melted butter and bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes until they are have risen and have adopted a light golden yellow colour.
