Rich homemade ice cream

    6 hours 30 min

So easy! This was a trial and error one as I had run out of ice cream and needed some for my dinner guests, so I mixed the two ingredients together to see what would happen and everyone wanted the recipe and said how delicious it was, also they were pleased that it did not need to be continually taken out of the freezer and whipped and put back again. Plus one of my friends, her ice cream maker had broken, so she was well pleased with this recipe.

    10 people made this

    Makes: 12 small servings

    • 600ml (1pt) thick double cream
    • 1 large tin condensed milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or any flavour you wish

    Prep:30min  ›  Extra time:6hr freezing  ›  Ready in:6hr30min

    1. Pour 1 pint of thick double cream into bowl, add 1 large tin of condensed milk, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence or any flavour you wish. Mix altogether and pour into a freezable dish for about 6 hours, or you can make this the night before.
    2. Very rich and very tasty. There is no need to keep taking it out of the freezer and whipping, it only needs the one mix and freeze and it is then ready to eat.

If you require soft icecream then freeze the cream and defrost before adding to the condensed milk. It is also nice plain without any flavourings. Just tastes nice and creamy. (Not good if you are on a diet!!!)

i tried this recipe and when finished it was ok but not great, i followed it to the letter, seemed a bit dry or unblended. i think if i did it again i would beat the ingredients really well so that they are well mixed together.  -  04 Apr 2011
