About this recipe: A simple and healthy side dish that will go well with any meal. It's also quick and easy to make! Broccoli, carrots and seasonings are stir-fried to perfection.


Makes: 3 - 4 servings

  • 500g broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 carrot, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cornflour, mixed with 2 teaspoons water
  • salt to taste
  • chicken stock granules to taste
  • 2 tablespoons groundnut oil

  1. Blanch the broccoli in boiling water for 2 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the broccoli and drain.
  2. In the same pot, bring the water back to the boil. Add the sliced carrot and cook for 1 minute, drain.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the cornflour slurry, salt and chicken stock granules. Set aside.
  4. Heat the oil in a wok until very hot. Stir-fry the broccoli and carrot for 2 minutes over high heat.
  5. Add the seasoned cornflour slurry and stir into the wok. Continue to stir until the sauce coats the vegetables evenly. Serve.

A slightly raw taste of the vegetables made the dish interesting! We had it with steamed rice and that's it! Yummy.. - 15 May 2014
