    About this recipe: This is a quick and easy Chinese soup, which is simple and delicious. Pork is stir-fried with mushrooms, then simmered in a seasoned stock. Enjoy alongside rice, if desired.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 2 - 3 servings

    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger root
    • 5 fresh mushrooms, cut into 1cm thick slices
    • 50g cooked pork belly, thinly sliced
    • 1/2 teaspoons salt
    • water as needed
    • monosodium glutamate (MSG) to taste
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
    • 1 spring onion, finely chopped

    Method

    1. Heat the oil in a wok over high heat until hot. Stir-fry the ginger, mushrooms, pork and salt. Continue to cook until the mushrooms are cooked.
    2. Add just enough water to make a soup and bring to the boil. Season with MSG, white pepper and spring onions. Serve.
