About this recipe: These chocolate chip cookies are delicious and easy to make. Use dark chocolate chips instead of chopped dark chocolate, if you can find them.


Serves: 4 

  • 110g butter, softened
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 110g dark brown soft sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 teaspoon hot water
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 185g plain flour
  • 175g dark chocolate, chopped

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
  2. Mix the butter, caster sugar and dark brown soft sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda into the hot water. Add it to the mixture then add the salt, flour and chocolate chips then mix.
  4. Drop a spoonful of dough onto an ungreased baking tray.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
