Easy apple turnovers

    I make these super easy apple turnovers with my children. It really is a recipe for beginners, that everyone will enjoy - a delicious and giant turnover made of puff pastry and ready made apple sauce.

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 puff pastry sheets, rolled
    • 300g apple sauce
    • 2 apples, peeled and thinly sliced
    • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
    • 30g butter
    • 1 egg, beaten

    1. Preheat oven to 210 C / Gas 6-7.
    2. Line puff pastry sheet on a buttered baking tray. Spread with some apple sauce, put a few apple slices on top of the apple sauce, sprinkle with sugar and dots of butter.
    3. Cover with the second puff pastry sheet, seal the edges by pinching them with your fingers. With a fork, gently prick the dough to let out the steam while it cooks.
    4. Brush the top with the beaten egg.
    5. Bake in the oven for 40 minutes.
