    This is a quick and easy recipe for a sweetened shortcrust pastry. It's perfect to use with tarts and flans. It's freezer-friendly, simply thaw out in the refrigerator when needed.

    Makes: 650 g approximately

    • 1 egg yolk
    • 1 small pinch salt
    • 100g caster sugar
    • 100ml water
    • 125g butter
    • 300g plain flour

    1. In a food processor or a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt and butter. Rub together until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
    2. Add the egg yolk and water, knead until a smooth and a dough ball forms. Wrap in cling film and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or until needed.
