    About this recipe: The wonderful flavour combination of apples and pork are brought together in this braised dish. It's simple and tastes fantastic. Enjoy with potatoes, if desired.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 2 

    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 150ml champagne or sparkling wine
    • 2 apples, peeled and diced
    • 2 pork sausages
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Method
    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:35min 

    1. Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Fry sausages until browned all over. Remove from pan.
    2. Saute onions in the same pan. Add apples and fry for 5 minutes, then pour in champagne.
    3. Return sausages back into the pan. Season with salt and pepper, then cover and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes over low heat.

    Simple and straightforward to make - it made a nice Saturday night dinner. Not sure about the quantities above - I used six sausages and just doubled the amount of sparkling wine (plus a splash) and one extra apple but I really had to reduce it down quite a bit so think 150ml for two (?) sausages would be too much. A little tip - I also used quite herby butchers sausages which I won't next time as it slightly overpowered the taste of the apples and wine. None the less a very tasty dish - recommended. - 16 Feb 2014
