Raisin far breton

    1 hour

This is a traditional pudding recipe from Brittany, which is simple and delicious. You can replace the raisins with prunes if desired. Don't add rum if you make this recipe for young children! You can soak the raisins in water or tea instead.

Be the first to make this!

    Serves: 6

    • 150g raisins
    • 150ml rum
    • 4 eggs
    • 125g plain flour
    • 100g caster sugar
    • 500ml milk
    • 2 teaspoons butter

    1. Preheat oven to 160 C / Gas 2/3. Butter a baking dish. In a small bowl, soak the raisins in the rum.
    2. In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, flour and sugar together. Mix well until smooth. Gradually stir in milk.
    3. Drain the raisins (this step can be omitted if you want to add the rum to the mixture). Add the raisins to the prepared dish, spreading evenly.
    4. Add the egg mixture to the dish, then bake in the oven for 45 minutes. The pudding will rise while cooking and then collapse. This is normal!
