Reeve's Digestive Biscuits

Reeve's Digestive Biscuits

About this recipe: Easy peasy lemon squeezy! We really love these biscuits so much here. They are crunchy, sweet and they've got an excellent wholemeal flavour! By-the-bye, I made up this recipe myself - but don't let that stop you! I made it up to be inexpensive (so you won't lose much, anyroad - but I can't imagine that they might turn out wrong).

Makes: 50

  • 585g wholemeal flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 110g butter
  • 200g sugar
  • 225ml milk

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:20min

  1. Mix dry ingredients together. Rub in butter to crumbs. Mix in milk well.
  2. Heat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
  3. Roll the dough very thin - like a pie pastry or 3mm - and cut into rounds. Prick with fork tines, but only because it looks nice; the biscuits do not need pricking.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until browned enough.

If you haven't got any powder, put in 1 teaspoonful bicarb and use buttermilk instead of milk.

Yup works. Nice with brown sugar. About 18 mins in a fan assisted 180 oven. Cut them up with a dog shaped cutter (dog biscuits ) and made about 36. Ate them with celery and ewe's cheese Tx Reeve - 04 Dec 2011

Wonderful, Had To Bake For A Tiny Bit Longer (2 Minutes) And I Put Some plain flour In Instead And It Tastes like Soda Bread! Lovely With Jam - 04 Apr 2013
