Open-faced smoked ham and egg sandwich

    A traditional sandwich from northern Germany with wholemeal bread, ham and egg. You can add and expand the ingredients as you like, such as tomato slices, cornichons, chives etc.

    Serves: 1 

    • 1 large slice fresh wholemeal bread
    • 30g butter
    • 1 thick slice (75g) smoked ham
    • 1 egg
    • salt and pepper to taste

    1. Spread half of the butter on the bread and place the ham on it. Heat the remaining butter in a non-stick frying pan and cook the egg. Slide the hot egg onto the sandwich. Season with salt and pepper and garnish to taste with cornichons and tomatoes.
