Little gem salad with tangy cream dressing

About this recipe: When I was a child, this is the main salad dressing my mother made. It is a specialty from northern Germany.

Serves: 4 

  • 75ml double cream
  • 50g plain yoghurt
  • pinch of salt
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1-2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3-4 little gem lettuces, washed and dried

  1. Whisk the cream and yoghurt with salt, lemon juice and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Tear the lettuce into bite-size pieces. Just before serving, toss the lettuce with the dressing until all leaves are nicely coated. Serve immediately.
