Pølser - Danish style hot dogs

    Based on the Danish hot dogs called Pølser sold at little kiosks throughout Denmark. Simple and quick to make. Great for a quick snack or kids' party. Nice served with Danish Flag toothpicks inserted in the roll with good quality ready salted crisps on the side.

    Serves: 4 

    • 8 frankfurters
    • 8 hot dog rolls
    • remoulade sauce
    • tomato ketchup
    • 1 handful homemade pickled cucumbers*
    • 1 handful dried crispy onions

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:15min 

    1. Start by cooking the frankfurters according to packet instructions. I pan fry mine over low heat, so as not to split the skins, for about 10 minutes.
    2. Meanwhile, split the hot dog rolls and put 2 on each serving plate. When the frankfurters are cooked place into the centre of your rolls. Run a good squirt each of remoulade sauce and ketchup along the top. Add the cucumbers and sprinkle lavishly the onions along the top.

    Ingredient note

    Remoulade sauce can be found from Danfoods®. The crispy onions are also available from Danfoods® and some supermarkets stock them also in plastic containers. Alternatively, use American mustard, but if doing so, substitute the crispy onions with raw finely chopped onion.
