Bolognese sauce with sherry and fresh herbs

    This is a very tasty Bolognese sauce that I created to serve with pasta. You can also use this sauce for lasagne.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 5 

    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 400g beef steak mince
    • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 handful fresh parsley, chopped
    • 1 handful fresh coriander, chopped
    • 3 sprigs thyme
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
    • 3/4 mug cream sherry
    • tin chopped tomatoes
    • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
    • 300ml (1/2 pint) water

    Method
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:35min  ›  Ready in:50min 

    1. Put olive oil in a pan and add mince, garlic and onions, salt and pepper and gently fry until mince is browned.
    2. Add in fresh chopped herbs, spices and sherry and simmer for 5 minutes.
    3. Add in tin of chopped tomatoes, sugar and water and mix well and then simmer for around 35 minutes.
    4. Serve with pasta and garlic bread.
