Meady's sweet and sour sauce

    The easiest sauce ever; ready in minutes, great with chicken or just to pour over chips. The ingredients are all things you are likely to have to hand.

    Serves: 2 

    • 225ml cold water
    • 115g sugar
    • 115ml vinegar
    • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
    • 1 tablespoon cornflour

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:2min  ›  Ready in:7min 

    1. Put all ingredients in saucepan and mix well, bring to the boil, stirring all the time, until sauce comes to the boil, then simmer for 2 minutes, and that's it.
    2. You can add less or more cornflour depending on how thick you like the sauce.

    I've tried to find a good sweet and sour sauce recipe for years, not only good but really easy too. Turns a simple stir fry into something really good.  -  23 Aug 2011


    Absolutley Delicious! I made this to go over the Chinese Chicken Balls (a recipe on here) and it all went down a storm! My 15 year old fussy son said it was better than what you get from the take away - a HUGE compliment, believe me!  -  05 Aug 2015


    Trying to decide what to cook with the chicken I had in the freezer - and not a lot else in the house! .... This was absolutely perfect - quick and easy to make and really tasty - I did have to use plain flour rather than cornflour but it was fabulous  -  11 Apr 2015
