About this recipe:
These are a little more flavoursome than typical fried onions and go a little further. A side dish for any main meal but mainly used for any dish that goes well with chips, such as steak.
vegetable oil, for frying
4 tablespoons plain flour
2 teaspoons Cayenne pepper, plus a little pinch salt
1 large white Spanish onion

Heat oil in a pan or deep fat fryer.
Mix flour, Cayenne pepper and salt in a bowl.
Thinly slice onion into rings or simple slices (half moon shapes).
Toss onion well in the Cayenne pepper and salt mixture, shake off excess and deep fry until golden brown (tobacco coloured). Drain well and serve as a side dish or a tasty salad garnish. Tip
Make sure onion is coated well in the pepper mix for a lovely crunchy result.
