About this recipe:These biscotti-like biscuits are simple to make and taste fantastic. They are flavoured with almonds, orange zest, raisins, chocolate, aniseed and ginger. They are perfect during Christmastime.
250g caster sugar
125g almonds or walnuts, coarsely chopped
100g grated orange zest
3 tablespoons aniseed powder
1 teaspoon ground ginger
50g chocolate, grated
500g plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
butter for brushing
For the Egg Wash
1-2 egg yolks, beaten with a little water

Beat eggs with sugar until light and fluffy. Knead all the ingredients together to form a firm dough, adding spices last.
Divide the dough into 4 and roll each into a long log, the length of the baking tray.
Preheat oven to 150 C / Gas 2. Bake logs in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Brush with egg wash and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes at 180 C / Gas 4.
Cut into diagonal slices and serve warm.
