About this recipe: This delicious chutney goes exceptionally well with pork and any other roasted meats. You can make this chutney ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.


Serves: 6 

  • 3 large apples, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple schnapps or Calvados
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • salt

  1. In a small heavy pan, combine apples, thyme, bay leaf, sugar, apple schnapps and apple cider vinegar.
  2. Simmer for 1 to 1 1/4 hours, partially covered or until the chutney is thick and sticky. Stir occasionally.
  3. Season to taste with salt. Remove bay leaf and serve warm or lukewarm.
